About the Loon
The original uses Brian's “special” mixture of gouache, pronounced “gwahsh,” an opaque water-based medium that uses finely ground paint and precipitated chalk to render it opaque. Gouache is known for its radiance of color, something that is extremely difficult to achieve using any other type of paint.
Brian’s airbrush gouache originals are created in both his Nebraska and Minnesota studios. Once an original is complete, Brian renders a digital copy using Adobe Creative Software. Finally, he and a master printmaker collaborate to match colors and create archival prints that are truly stunning.
