Congè 2010

Design a logo for Duchesne Academy's annual fundraising event, Congé which for the first time, will be casual atire. The event is to be called "Fairmont Fair" in reference to the school's plaid uniform. In addition to the main logo, we are asked to design a 2nd logo to be printed on black sweatpant which will be awarded to any Duchesne students selling at least 10 raffle tickets for the event. As an added incentive, winners will be allowed to wear the sweatpants, in place of their uniform, for the month of January 2010 - the month leading up to the big event.



The Design Process

When designing something for teenage girls, it's best to ask.....teenage girls, so we did. Enter: daughters of the Adventure Studio team who just happen to be students at Duchesne. They put their heads together, sketch out a few rough designs, and (with a little help from the bosses) came up with a clean, simple logo.



Testing The Concepts

Before going to print, we test and tweak a concept to make sure the design and layout work just right.



Understanding Typefaces

Perhaps most important step comes in selecting and customizing the right font. After looking at a number of traditional "fair" fonts, we tweeked this one until it was perfect. The colors represent the school's traditional red and white.



Fairmont

The name of the traditional plaid pattern of Duchesne Academy's signature, pleated skirt.
