When a member of the studio became a member of Duchesne Alumni Board, representing 125 years of alumnae relations and fundraising, it's not surprising that she, a 4th generation alumna herself, would be happy to contribute design work in support of the board's development efforts.

Design a logo for Duchesne Academy's annual fundraising event, Congé. The event will be called "Fairmont Fair" in reference to the school's plaid. In addition to the main logo, a 2nd logo is designed to be printed on black sweatpants. The sweats will be awarded to any Duchesne student selling at least 10 raffle tickets for the event. As an added incentive, winners will be allowed to wear the sweatpants, in place of their uniform, for the month of January 2010 - the month leading up to the big event.

When designing something for teenage girls, it's best to ask.....teenage girls, so we did. Enter: daughters of the Adventure Studio team who just happen to be students at Duchesne. They put their heads together, sketch out a few rough designs, and (with a little help from the bosses) came up with a clean, simple logo.

Perhaps most important step comes in selecting and customizing the right font. After looking at a number of traditional "fair" fonts, we tweeked this one from House Industries (we love those guys) and got it just right. The colors represent the school's traditional red and white.

Before going to print, we test and tweak a concept to make sure the design and layout work just right. We decide simple is better.

The look reflects a merging of two styles: "State Fair" meets vintage school. The fold in the center plays on the pleat of the plaid uniform skirt, more evident in the main Conge 2010 logo.
